Parrot is a free and simple voice recording and sharing app for BlackBerry 10.
Record, play, and share!
Parrot allows you to record, play, and share voice recordings through your phone. As you record your voice a live graph of your audio input is displayed, and you can pause, start and stop recording at any point.
Parrot displays a full list of all of the recordings you've made and besides the ability to play them back you can also rename, share, copy, delete and modify your tracks. Unfortunately, there are no audio editing tools included within Parrot for slicing up your audio or applying effects, for example.
You can share recordings you've made in Parrot via BBM, text message, Bluetooth, NFC or BlackBerry Remember. It would be nice if there were more share options here, such as for email, Facebook, etc.
Quick and easy
Parrot for BlackBerry 10 features a very useable interface that makes it easy to record, play and share voice recordings. All three options are available from a slide-out menu at the bottom of the screen and the minimalist design of the interface makes it easy to find your way around.
The audio quality of the recordings we made in our tests of Parrot (on BlackBerry Z10) was excellent. Sound is very crisp with no muffling or distortion. Audio files are saved by default in M4A format, although unfortunately there's no option to export as MP3, WAV, or any other audio file format for that matter.
Parrot makes for an easy, elegant way to record sound on your BlackBerry 10 phone.
